Internews in Moldova is looking for an expert on mobile and social media management

Open to: national or international social media experts

Context: MEDIA-M project provide assistance for six independent media outlets (Key Partners/ KPs), which were selected to receive long-term targeted grant support, including developing their advertising base and/or audience base and higher quality media products, delivered across a variety of traditional and digital platforms in rural and urban areas. It aims to create a more informed citizenry that understands the value of fact-based, credible journalism. As part of its activities under this project, MEDIA-M will contract an expert/consultant to develop/review a mobile and social media strategy and to provide in-house training on social media basics.

Responsibilities:

  • To analyze the existing strategies (if it’s applicable);
  • To analyze content and research social media audience base;
  • To research social competitive landscape of the KP;
  • To set goals that are attainable for KP and develop/review a mobile and social media strategy that is engaging social media content and audience;
  • To design the new strategy using channels that have the most importance, based on KP’s goals (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat, Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, Telegram, etc.);
  • To coach the KP on implementing new strategy, that aims to increase number of social media audience (views, likes, comments);
  • To provide recommendations and suggestions for journalists in social media basics, working with online audiences, differences between social media platforms, interpreting response data on social media, etc.

The period of implementation and particular media outlets to work with will be discussed with the selected expert/consultant.

Selection criteria:

  • Higher education in journalism, communication, social media management and/or other relevant areas;
  • Experience with similar activities;
  • Advanced knowledge of social media field;
  • Deep knowledge of new trends in the media and social media;
  • Capacity to analyze, monitor, synthesize, and evaluate.
