Applications are accepted from the following territories (based on citizenship): Albania, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Palestine, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Eligible candidates are professionals from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, and Armenia.

Candidates from other countries are not eligible for this call.

Accepted proof of proficiency: IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL IBT 69+ or TOEFL paper based test 525+

As a substitute to a test taken, other proof of language proficiency may be provided (e.g. confirmation by grammar school, university or employer).

Short-listed applicants will have to demonstrate their English language skills during an interview.

Other requirements

At least 1 reference(s) must be provided.

A motivation letter must be added to your application.

Please focus on the following questions in your motivation letter:

  • What is your main motivation to participate in the Programme?
    • What do you expect to learn during the Programme?
    • How do you think you will be able to apply the knowledge you get in your professional activities?
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the public sector, non-governmental organisation or academia;
    - Description of present job function (to be filled in the system);
    - Copies of university diplomas;
    - A short video (up to 3 minutes) where the candidate states the reasons for applying.

Specific requirements for Non-EU applicants:

Applicants who have previously issued Schengen visa(s) (or currently valid for the Programme period) may additionally submit copies, as this information will be necessary immediately after selection process.

 

Overview

The Intensive Programme is developed for professionals from public administration, NGOs and academia with at least two years of work experience.

Over a period of 6 weeks, from 11 November until 19 December, the Programme provides comprehensive training on the legal, economic, and political functioning of the European Union. In addition, the Programme includes a study visit to Brussels for in-person meetings in the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European External Action Service, and other EU institutions.

Participating countries or specific regions are decided upon by the Programme donors.

 

Due to unforeseen circumstances, study dates may change.

Programme structure

Autumn 2023 Intensive Programme will offer the following courses: EU Law, Legislative Drafting and the Rule of Law, Human Rights, European Political Economy, Good Governance and Anti-corruption and EU Integration.

Upon passing of exams and completion of the Programme, participants receive a certificate of programme completion and 1.5 ECTS for each course.

The Programme is free of charge.

This Programme is funded by the United States of America and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. All costs associated with the Programme are covered by Programme donors.
