I. Information about the position

II. Organizational context

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit organization based in Prague that implements development cooperation projects in 15 countries across the world (Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa).

From 1^st of January 2024, Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova (CCR MD) started a 3 year program aimed at improving the water and sanitation facilities for the students and school staff of 25 schools in Moldova as well as to increase hygiene awareness for the students, parents, school staff, local authorities, and the surrounding to the selected schools’ population in 25 communities. In this regard, we are looking to hire a Project Manager.

III. Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will be as follows: 

• Carry out overall management and coordination of the project (i. e. ensuring that the project results and objectives as per project documents are achieved within the given budget and time-plan);
• Plan activities and budget spending.
• Conduct regular internal monitoring and evaluation of the project progress and outcomes (based on the project log frame) and propose modification of the projects design when needed;
• Coordinate project activities implemented by project partners and carry out their quality supervision;
• Carry out sub-deliveries´ management:
• Select external suppliers in line with CCR MD Procurement Manual
• Prepare respective contracts;
• Ensure that quality of the goods / services delivered meet CCR requirements and the project needs;
• Coordinate sub-contractors´ involvement in the project
• Monitor the project budget spending (including spending in partners´ budget lines) using the financial monitoring table supplied by the HQ Financial Coordinator, and propose remedies in case of overspending or underspending in particular budget lines or in general;
• Prepare budget forecast; Ensure that incurred expenses are eligible;
• Carry out reporting in line with CCR Monitoring and Evaluation Manual;
• Identify problems that arise during the project implementation and prepare appropriate remedies.
• Ensure transparent and structured keeping of project documents (internal reports, contracts, materials produced by the project, sources of indicators verification etc.) in line with given guidelines.

IV. Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• Technical background, development or related field;
• Previous professional experience in project management at least 3 years;
• Experience in project proposal writing and reporting to institutional donors; 
• Proven experience in managing teams;
• Written and spoken proficiency in English, Romanian.
• Computer literacy, including knowledge of and experience with word processors (MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel), Outlook. Previous experience in SharePoint is an asset.
• Good organizational skills and ability to analyse information;
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with people from various cultural and social backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and/or previous professional experience in infrastructure projects, preferably in sanitation and water supply.
