NRC is looking for a Shelter and WASH Assistant

 Role and responsibilities  

 Generic responsibilities 

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines 
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action 
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management 
  • Ensure proper filing of documents  
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function 
  • Responsible for: assessment, vulnerable beneficiary selection, project planning, implementation and monitoring for shelter construction activities 
  • Collection and analysis shelter data and report to shelter officer. 
  • Generate timely reports (weekly, monthly, and as needed). 

 Specific responsibilities  

  • Conduct on-site assessments in regions/villages to identify needs, resources, shelter types, and data on refugees and vulnerable host communities. 
  • Identify vulnerable families eligible for shelter assistance based on established criteria. 
  • Monitor rehabilitation works by contractors, daily laborers, or repairs by project participants. 
  • Oversee shelter repair activities within agreed timeframes. 
  • Participate in field missions and provide monitoring and technical assistance to beneficiaries. 
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for shelter beneficiaries at both field and office levels. 
  • Report progress to the Shelter Officer upon successful completion of repair stages. 
  • Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the shelter Technical Officer

  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities. 
  • Knowledge of shelter repairing. 

 Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:  

  • 1 year of working experience with communities. 
  • Basic knowledge of construction/repairing work. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Fluency in Romanian, Ukrainian / Russian preferred
