Logistics Coordinator/Translator for the USAID Moldova Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity (RCRA)



Chemonics International Inc. seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Logistics Coordinator/Translator for the USAID Moldova Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity (RCRA). Background

USAID Moldova Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity (RCRA) is a five-year project (2022-2027) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Chemonics International. The goal of RCRA is to stimulate a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the regional crisis brought on by the latest Russian invasion of Ukraine and accelerate an inclusive, climate-resilient economic development of rural Moldova by protecting the development gains made with USAID support over the past decade and further stimulate the competitiveness of key economic sectors, including the wine industry, high-value agriculture, and tourism.

The objectives of the Activity are:

  1. Accelerated export diversification and Western market integration in targeted sectors
  2. Enhanced economic resilience of small and medium enterprises in targeted sectors
  3. Improved sector enabling environment to facilitate resilience and Western integration.

Position description

The Logistics Coordinator/Translator will support RCRA operational processes by providing day to day administrative and logistical support to the project, arrange the local and international travel for the project staff and consultants. The Logistics Coordinator/Translator will also provide written and oral translation support in English, Russian, and Romanian languages as needed by the Activity and its staff. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative and logistical support for programmatic implementation as broken out by operational area below:

Logistics and Administration

  • Arranges flight/train/bus tickets, hotel accommodations, transportation, visas for all project-related travel (international and local), keep records of the travel companies and hotels.
  • Serves as point person for vehicle and driver requests from staff, collect and review project vehicle logs to ensure they are complete, maintain a schedule of vehicle movements for the week.
  • Coordinates with the outsourced transportation companies to arrange transportation for staff or events and liaises with the Procurement and Finance teams for the payment documentation.
  • Greets, and assists visitors, and helps schedule meetings and events.
  • Assists with making necessary arrangements for meetings, trainings or program event held at office and outside, coordinates all logistics for planned events.
  • Assists in maintaining administrative systems, including but not limited to communication logs, filing systems, and budget trackers.
  • Assists the technical and operations team with any special print requests.
  • Other administrative functions as assigned.

Translation/Interpretation

  • Accompanies Chief of Party and Grants and Subcontracts Advisor and international experts as necessary to assist with oral interpretation.
  • Provides consecutive interpretation support from and to English, Russian, and Romanian language as needed for meetings, trainings, or other events.
  • Supports Activity personnel, including long-term staff and short-term experts, in the preparation and translation of documents and reports from and to English, Russian and Romanian.
  • Coordinates with the outsourced translators and translation agencies on translation of technical documents, including proposals, presentations, programs, reports, and other publications, project templates from and to English, Russian, and Romanian, taking into account the target audience.
  • Support Activity communications team to draft brochures, outreach products, and other textual materials from and to English, Russian, and Romanian.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 (two) years of relevant work experience in operations or logistics required;
  • University degree in a relevant field; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluency in Romanian, Russian and proficiency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills; translation and interpretation skills.
  • Previous experience implementing donor-funded programming preferred;
  • Attention to detail and positive attitude;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred; and
  • Demonstrated versatility and integrity, self-starter.
