Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the candidate will work, together with IOM physicians, mainly on medical health activities and will be responsible for the implementation of IOM migration health activities in Moldova.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Schedule the migrants for medical examinations of all refugees/migrants bound for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand according to instruction given by the supervising officer or RMHO.
  • Confirm the identity of arriving migrants for health assessments, filling the examination forms/registering them in the appropriate online databases for resettlement countries.
  • Collect medical fees for routine medical examinations and for any required additional tests from refugees/migrants. This will include maintenance of daily financial reports and remittance of collected fees to the Admin/Finance Unit at IOM main office.
  • Work with appropriate databases (Mimosa, eMedical, etc) entering and extracting data.
  • Do the copies of the completed medical files by migration health physicians, correct the missing data and archive the copies of the medical files.
  • Close the completed forms and arrange delivery of the forms to the migrants.
  • Dispatch information, requests for follow-ups, and instructions, etc to refugees/migrants regarding their medical assessments and further requirements.
  • Assist Medical Administrative Assistant in monitoring and implementation of the Migration Health Department (MHD) administrative activities such as organization of administrative work in Department, human resources management, handling of the databases for the services provided as well as for the archiving of the migrant’s medical forms.
  • Assist the preparation of migration health data on the USRP pre-flight screening, cooperation with IOM OPS and deliver timely and accurate information on the medical condition of the departing migrants.
  • Assist on preparation and monitoring of administrative/financial reports, planning and procurement of self-payers migration health assessment programme needs.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • High school degree/Certificate with five years of relevant work experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent or higher from an accredited academic institution preferably in Social Sciences, International Development, Business Administration or similar or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience and related disciplines.

Experience:

  • two years of relevant work experience (preferably with a national NGO or an international organization in an administrative capacity).

Skills:

  • Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to work with national and international institutions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Languages:

Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian is required.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, security clearances, and a valid COVID certification.

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
