Background
People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 20 years. From 2009 onwards, PIN has added development programmes to its work in Moldova, building a vision and practices that keep people and communities at the centre of our work. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.
Position overview
Purpose & Reporting Structure
The Communication Assistant will provide support to PIN Moldova Communications and Programmes Teams. Editing and writing multi-media materials will be an important part of the role. In this position, the assistant should have an understanding of and interest in research, policy, and social media platforms. S/he should have good communication skills and strong attention to detail. Ultimately, the goal of the Communication Assistant will be to help create effective content and support clear communication of PIN messages across all channels.
Reporting Relationships
The Communication Assistant will work under the primary supervision of the Communication Officer.
Main responsibilities:
- Creating social media and website content, and supporting in executing social media strategies;
- Collecting stories, photos and videos covering PIN Moldova activities in coordination with staff (preparing questions for colleagues, taking photos, organizing photo according to agreed structure, preparing best of photos collections);
- Assisting the Communication Officer in preparing content for posts on PIN Moldova Facebook page;
- Providing support to Programmes Teams in ensuring donors’ visibility in the field in compliance with donors’ Communication and Visibility guidelines;
- Contributing to the design of communication materials for PIN, including one-pagers, presentations, reports and promotional materials;
- Uploading content on PIN Moldova microsite and other platforms, such as Civic.md;
- Helping with organization of public events (conferences, launching events, etc.);
- Translating materials from/to English and Romanian, as may be requested.
Qualification:
- University degree in PR/Communications or relevant field;
- At least one year of relevant experience;
- Interest in humanitarian and development projects;
- Creativity and innovation skills;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, meeting deadlines;
- Strong writing, verbal, spelling, grammar, proofreading skills in Romanian and English. Good knowledge of Russian is desired;
- Skilled and confident user of MS Office applications;
- Ability to support designing and implementing campaigns;
- Team work and organizational skills;
- Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of graphic design and video making software programmes; Google Apps and Analytics will be an asset.
