Information Seminar for Teachers: YSA STEM Program in Moldova
America House in collaboration with Young Scientist Academy invites all current, previous and aspiring teachers and educators in general and core sciences - physics, chemistry, biology - technology, and math fields to come and learn about a new and exciting initiative between American and Moldovan middle to high-school girls.
YSA is a youth science NGO headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina where our mission empowers all youth to be community ambassadors using science to discover and deliver solutions that benefits their communities. Our programs involve real world science experiments to technology and coding innovation, and this new program will inspire girls in Moldova to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. The program will be led by Moldovan educators that are trained by YSA educators, and will focus on providing STEM solutions to issues that are important for the future success of Moldova, such climate change, space exploration, urban sustainability, and clean energy innovation.
This event will include an interactive discussion about the proposed collaborative program, recruitment and training of educators, and hands-on activities highlighting careers in technology, coding and computer engineering. These include activities that educators will lead in the programming such as:
- application of near-space weather balloon and Raspberry Pi technology
- software engineering with Python coding
- web and app development
- digital image and thermal camera analyses.
Also, teachers attending will be able to help formulate the program direction by sharing their ideas and topics (e.g., AI) they would like to be included in the program.
Looking forward to meeting the education mentors of our future leaders, promises to be a great time!
