Are you looking for a way to showcase your creativity and inspire other teachers?

Then join America House Chisinau's "Beyond the Textbook" competition!

This competition challenges EFL teachers to design innovative project-based learning (PBL) scenarios that go beyond the traditional textbook approach. We are looking for fun and engaging projects that will encourage students to:

• Be creative and think outside the box
• Communicate effectively in English
• Conduct research and develop critical thinking skills
• Collaborate with classmates and present their findings

Project Requirements:

• Inspiration: The project should be inspired by a topic or theme from the national curriculum or one of the national English language textbooks used in Moldova.
• Engagement: The project should be designed to be fun and engaging for students of all learning levels (primary and secondary).
• Scenario Format: Teachers will submit a project scenario as a poster in A1 format (Canva is a recommended tool for poster creation).
• PBL Structure: The scenario should follow the PBL structure, outlining the following key elements:
  • Project Introduction: Briefly introduce the project topic and learning objectives.
  • Research and Planning: Describe the research activities students will undertake and how they will plan their project.
  • Project Activities: Detail the creative and engaging activities students will complete as part of the project.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Explain how students will communicate and collaborate throughout the project.
  • Presentation: Describe how students will present their project findings to the class or a wider audience.
  • Assessment: Outline how student learning and project outcomes will be assessed.

Submission Process:

• Submit your project scenario as a PDF document in A1 format by email to americahousemd@gmail.com with the subject line "Beyond the Textbook Competition - [Your Name]".
• The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2025

Winning Scenarios:

• The three winning scenarios will be selected by a jury of experienced EFL educators.
• Winning scenarios will be showcased in an exhibit at America House Chisinau on March 15, 11:00 - 14:00.
