UNHCR is looking for a Senior GBV Associate, G7

The incumbent will work in close collaboration and coordination with the GBV team under the supervision of the Senior Protection Officer and primarily performs the functions as per the Job Description.

The position requires a highly motivated individual who can work seamlessly with teams and independently complete tasks assigned to them. The incumbent must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify issues and practical solutions. They must have strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. They must demonstrate qualities and a proven ability to support the leading of processes related to gender equality and GBV and manage functions related to working and coordinating with partner organizations.

Understanding Moldova’s gender and GBV context is key and previous work experience the area(s) of human rights, community-based protection, gender equality or GBV is required. Experience with individual case management is an asset. Knowledge of and experience of programme management cycle and of UNHCR’s Age, Gender and Diversity Policy is considered an asset.The incumbent must be able to communicate clearly and effectively and establish an enabling and collaborative working environment, including with partners, government counterparts, and forcibly displaced and stateless persons.

Working experience with local or international organizations in the field of gender equality and GBV is an added advantage, and commitment to adhere to the approaches and principles of the UN/UNHCR is required. Interest to work with forcibly displaced and stateless persons with diverse backgrounds, including LGBTIQ+ people, sex workers, persons living with HIV and persons who use drugs is a must.

Willingness and availability to undertake field missions, liaise and coordinate with partners to advance on gender equality and GBV issues within the operation is essential.

Knowledge of English and Romanian is required, working level of Russian, or Ukrainian is considered an asset.

Remuneration & Benefits:

A competitive compensation and benefits package is offered. The annual net salary is between MDL 459,388 and MDL 535,953 depending on relevant experience, excluding dependency allowances (if applicable), mandatory medical insurance and pension fund enrollment. Annual leave: UNHCR staff members holding a temporary appointment will accrue annual leave at the rate of 1.5 working days for each full calendar month of service (i.e.: 18 working days per year).

Pension system: Staff members holding a temporary appointment of 6 months or more will become participants in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF).

Health insurance plan: locally recruited staff members in the Republic of Moldova will be enrolled in the Medical Insurance Plan (MIP). The coverage is optionally available for eligible family members.
