Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation– is pleased to announce an opening for the Project Associate position within the Moldovan-Swiss Intellectual Property project (MSIP) financed by the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO).

The employee will be contracted by Helvetas Moldova, the representation of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation based in Chisinau, on behalf of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property.

Short information about the project 

The Moldovan-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (MSIP) is an international cooperation project that aims to contribute to Moldova’s socioeconomic development by enabling private stakeholders to use Intellectual property Rights (IPRs) more effectively and supporting the government in its provision of better Intellectual Property (IP) services.

The project is funded by the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland and implemented by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI, www.ipi.ch). IPI has contracted Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation to implement the project in Moldova.  

Project Duration: 2024-2027

The Role

The Project Associate (PA) will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and administration of the MSIP project in Moldova. The position offers engaging and diversified work in technical cooperation with national and international partners and experts.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Plan, support and monitor the project’s implementation work plan and related activities in Moldova and, if required, participate in project activities in other countries;
  • Schedule project-related meetings and calls with respective Swiss and Moldovan counterparts and other related stakeholders, incl. preparing agendas and writing up meeting minutes;
  • Prepare and participate in project missions: propose mission agenda, arrange meetings logistics such as hotels and transportation;
  • Report to IPI on the progress of the project in coordination calls and progress reports for SECO;
  • Arrange assignments and contracts with sub-contractors in Moldova;
  • Manage local fund administration and arrange disbursements; and
  • Network and maintain close relationships with other development partners and agencies.

Profile

Essential Mandatory Assets

  • Relevant university degree (International Relations, Law, Economics or Science-related, for example) with additional training in business or project administration;
  • Five years of experience, at least two years in managing development cooperation projects;
  • Fluent in Romanian and working proficiency in English, inc. writing and translation skills (proven either by certification or proven working experience in English-speaking mandates);
  • Relevant expertise and experience in working with the Moldovan government and public institutions, as well as in capacity building, institutional strengthening and managing participatory processes with the involvement of different stakeholders at the national level;
  • Strong inter-cultural competence, organisational and team skills;
  • Excellent reporting skills;
  • Basic IT skills and willingness to learn how to use a new accounting software
  • Proactive and a high degree of self-motivation;
  • Openness and ability to travel according to project needs and networking skills.

Additional Assets

  • Prior knowledge of intellectual property and related matters;
  • Experience of working in technical cooperation and/or capacity development;
  • Negotiation skills;
  • IT savvy.
