The U.S. Embassy is hiring a temporary Translator/Interpreter

Duties
Serves as translator for the Bilateral Affairs Office for support of United States European Command (USEUCOM) in facilitating and executing Military-to-Military (M2M), State Partnership Program (SPP) and Humanitarian and Civic Assistance (HCA) events and projects. Position involves written and verbal translation from Romanian and Russian into English and English into Romanian and Russian. Verbal translation will sometimes involve simultaneous translation and translation for meetings involving large groups of people. Position directly supports the Bilateral Affairs Office and involves daily interaction with U.S. Embassy personnel up to and sometimes including the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova as well as interaction with the Moldovan Ministry of Defense and soldiers of the Moldovan National Army. Incumbent provides support to Office of Defense Cooperation programs as required.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of experience in both oral and written translation from Russian and Romanian to English, and English to Russian and Romanian is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
1. Basic knowledge of military organizations, operations and budgeting, as well as the operations and organization of NGOs, the Government of Moldova and humanitarian projects is required.
2. Intermediate knowledge of military/technical terms in Romanian, Russian and English.
Education Requirements:
University degree in foreign languages, international relations, business administration or public relations is required.
LANGUAGE:
Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English, Romanian and Russian is required. (This may be tested.)

1. Ability to prioritize and accomplish assigned tasks with minimum direction from supervisors.
2. Ability to resolve problems with diplomacy and tact.
3. Ability to plan, manage time and successfully react to deadlines and changing priorities.
4. Ability to work cooperatively across cultural, ethnic, gender and national barriers.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, publication and presentation software packages, such as Microsoft Windows, Office, Word, Excel, Access, FrontPage, Power Point and Outlook.
