Movie Screening: 12 Years a Slave

On December 2 America House Chisinau invites everyone (16+) to join us for the screening of 𝟏𝟐 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞. The film is based on the true story of an African American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841, sold into slavery, and put to work on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before being released.

The movie sheds light on the harsh realities of slavery, providing a platform to discuss racial equality, human rights, and social justice.

12 Years a Slave received widespread critical acclaim and was named the best film of 2013 by several media outlets and critics. The film received nine Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay for John Ridley, and Best Supporting Actress for Lupita Nyong'o.
