Assignment Title: Financial Management Specialist

The World Bank is supporting the Government of Moldova in the implementation of two distinct but complementary projects: REMAP and TerraMoldova funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). While the two projects are technically separate operations — each with its own financing, results framework, and implementation arrangements — they are designed to work in synergy to address Moldova's land and environmental management challenges at scale.
REMAP is aiming to address the critical issue of land-based nutrient pollution in the Dniester River Basin while advancing sustainable landscape management practices. Its overarching objective is to expand the area under sustainable landscape management practices and restore the ecological integrity of the Dniester River Basin. By improving wetland, forest, and river ecosystem functions in the catchment area, the project aims to enhance water filtration, nutrient retention, and habitat connectivity, while promoting biodiversity and building resilience to climate change. The initiative incorporates Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to address nutrient pollution and improve ecosystem quality and connectivity. It aligns with Moldova’s commitments under EU environmental directives and international frameworks, including the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
