Peace Corps Technical Trainer for The Health Education (HE) Program

LOCATION: Based in Chișinău, Moldova
CLASSIFICATION: Temporary contracted position for April-August 2026.
COMPENSATION: Daily rate of $46.34 USD

TECHNICAL TRAINER FOR THE HEALTH EDUCATION (HE) PROGRAM
Health Education Pre-Service Training Technical Trainer (HE PST TT) is responsible for the design and implementation of the Health Education (HE) Pre-Service Technical Training for Peace Corps Trainees. Under the supervision of the Training Manager, who oversees all aspects of PST, the Technical Trainer will coordinate the work with the HE Program Manager and HE Program Specialist (PM, PS) in designing and delivering HE sector technical training activities to prepare Trainees for a co- teaching assignment in a Moldovan school. The PST HE Technical Trainer will coordinate the COTE activities, resources, and technical training implementation with the Training Manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Training Manager and in coordination with HE Program Manager:
- Plans, drafts and implements a training design to prepare trainees to function as resources and teachers of Health Education in the Moldovan schools and communities.
- Partners with PC staff to design an integrated training curriculum, considering gender sensitive approaches and respect for diversity and inclusiveness.
- Facilitates sessions based on Trainees’ experience and skills, diversity, and background, as per Peace Corps PST Community Based Training philosophy.
- Coordinates technical training sessions, discussions, and practicum activities for PCTs in PST communities, using principles of adult training methodology, and evidence-based health education gender equitable life skills activities for school settings, culturally and age appropriate in accordance with the national health education curricula and national education and health strategies.
- Develops and implements a 2-weeks Practice School and community-based practicum activity for the PCTs with sequenced activities and training sessions, and a 2-days counterpart TOT.
- Works with Moldovan mentor teachers and PC volunteers to provide diverse perspectives to session content and facilitation.
- Compiles a final training report with recommendations and suggestions for training improvement and implementation.
- In accordance with the Agency’s regulations provides safety and security support to U.S. Trainees and staff.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: University/college diploma in health / education or related field.
- Experience: Three years of experience training of adults, facilitation, and/or teaching students in Moldovan educational institutions.
- Languages: Excellent knowledge of English, Romanian and Russian.
- Knowledge: A thorough knowledge and experience with Health Education teaching curriculum, training philosophy, procedures, and methodologies. Knowledge of adult training principles, instructional design and methodology, communicative language teaching and acquisition content, and participatory facilitation of group experiences.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Skill and ability to design implement and evaluate training, both in-person and online.
- Skill as a trainer, teacher, facilitator.
- Knowledge of local cultural practices and of U.S. cultural attributes.
- Courteous, attentive, and able to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated flexibility, patience and tolerance.
- Collaborative and works well in teams.
- Well versed in the Moldovan education and having done actual classroom instruction.
- Well versed in the Moldovan health and /or public health system.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
