People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 30 years. From 2009 onwards, PIN has added development programs to its work in Moldova, building a vision and practices that keep people and communities at the canter of our work. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of the following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, and Good Governance.
Position summary:
The Subgrants Department within People in Need Moldova approves, issues, and monitors subgrants granted to local NGOs in Moldova. The Finance Programme Assistant will play an important role by assisting the Grants Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Grant Manager to maintain an efficient and effective management of the portfolio of subgrantees and a positive work environment;
- Review of subgrantees’ financial report packages. Review receipts for validity and appropriateness of expenses reported, according to the donor requirements and financial reporting guidelines. Communicate with subgrantees regarding the review;
- Review of the subgrantee’s budget proposals;
- Enter new subgrant records and update subgrantee data;
- Assist managers during annual and donor-specific audits;
- Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management and Administration, or related subject;
- Minimum one year of work experience in accounting, finance or another administrative field;
- Previous experience with nonprofit organization is desirable;
- High level of attention to detail in all aspects of work responsibilities and excellent organizational skills;
- Good English writing skills is desirable, but not mandatory;
- Ability to multi-tasking;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff and subgrantees, as needed;
- Working knowledge of Word processing and Excel spreadsheet applications.
