Missiong of Role (Why the Role Exists)

VOICE is a global women-led feminist organization that works with women- and girl-led groups, organizations and networks in humanitarian settings around the world. VOICE is working to re- imagine conflict and disaster response, towards where girls and women are respected leaders in designing and implementing solutions to eradicate violence in their communities and within the halls of power. VOICE partners with and mobilizes women and girls themselves – a proven but chronically underused resource – to help aid agencies do better.

The VAWG technical specialist will be part of an innovative team dedicated to improving the leadership, participation and role of women- and girl-led organizations and networks in Moldova. The Technical Specialist will be responsible for establishing and further developing existing relationships with women- and girl- led groups, organizations and networks and individual activists working on VAWG and women’s rights in Moldova. The consultant will support the Country Lead with identifying women and girl led organizations and networks as well as identifying specific needs to mitigate VAWG for Moldovan and refugee populations, strengthen women’s rights in Moldova and design specific activities and projects with VOICE stakeholders to address those needs.

Role of the VAWG Technical Specialist

• Research, identify and connect with individual activists, women and girl-led groups, organizations and networks as well as smaller and grassroots organizations working to end VAWG in Moldova

• Has a clear vision for women and girl’s leading the way for addressing VAWG in their communities, country, region and globally while centering and highlighting their voices.

• Draft and update country profile reports, case study documents, and notes from meetings and discussions held.

• Support the further development of a database of country level activists, groups, organizations and networks working on women’s rights and VAWG maintained.

• Support the development and organization of activities on VAWGS for CSOs and NGOs.

Competencies and Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience (including unpaid professional experience) working with women’s rights defenders, VAWG practitioner or other similar, on prevention and response to VAWG in Moldova.

• In-depth knowledge of, and known contacts with, women and girl-led groups, organizations, networks in Moldova.

• Strong mobiliser and organizer.

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a diverse team to support the delivery of the strategy.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

• Strong networking, facilitation and training skills.

• Excellent Communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

• Independent as well as a team player who is self-aware and works with compassion, patience and tolerance.

• Professional proficiency in Romanian and English. Russian and/or Ukrainian skills a plus.

• A motivated doer and self-starter.
