PROGRAM BACKGROUND 

Handicap International “HI” (operating as Humanity & Inclusion) is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights. 
HI is currently opening a multi-sectoral life-saving assistance to displaced and non-displaced populations in Ukraine such as:  Protection, shelter, health, NFIs, food security and livelihoods, water, sanitation, hygiene, education, strengthening and supporting access to mental health and psychosocial support; provision of basic and domestic items including food, unrestricted cash assistance, and core relief items.

General Mission

Under the responsibility of the MHPSS and Protection Manager, Social Worker will be responsible for the MHPSS activities implemented by HI. He/ She must keep all the data confidential, and share it only with the designated persons

1.Activities’ implementation:

a)  Referral pathway 

  • Identify people who need help in collaboration with MHPSS field staff  
  • Assess family and individual situations, considering strengths and weaknesses 
  • Identify needs in different sectors: child protection, social needs,  GBV etc 
  • Refer people in need to relevant services  
  • Follow up referred cases  
  • Being timely and able to promptly respond to the most urgent cases. 
  • Advocate for beneficiaries’ wellbeing internally and externally when relevant 
  • Closely work with other departments of the program (MHPSS, Rehabilitation, Inclusion) 
  • In collaboration with psychologists provide group psychosocial activities  
  • Fill out necessary forms and database 

     

b)  Mapping of services 

  • Contribute in identifying of services and support provided by state and other organizations 
  • Contribute in assessment and identifying of Refugee Accommodation Centers  

2.       Coordination: 

  • Internally, cooperate with other field workers towards a multidisciplinary support for beneficiaries 
  • At least weekly link with MHPSS and Protection Project Manager for regular feedback on activities implementation, needs, gaps and lessons learned sharing 
  • Externally, cooperate with services and NGOs with the aim of being able to refer cases to a wide pool of different services  


 

3.       Capacity building 

  • Demonstrate willingness to improve technical and professional knowledge 
  • Actively participating in training sessions and capacity building activities 
  • Suggest training topic according to professional needs 

 

4.       Demonstrate an ethic and professional practice 

  • Adopt a “Do no harm” approach 
  • Being confident in asking technical and professional supervision upon challenges at work 
  • Respect beneficiary confidentiality and point of view 
  • Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies among the teams or other actors 
  • Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others. 

5.       Reporting 

  • Collect and fill out the data on provided services in Database 
  • Clearly and timely centralize all the data collected in the field and coordinate with the MHPSS and Protection PM  
  • Apply all relevant HI internal reporting tools 
  • Report any specific problem that jeopardize the activities and suggest solutions 

     

6.       Security 

  • Follow all security rules in place 

Inform MHPSS and Protection PM of any security issue faced on the field

Diploma(s):

Graduate in social sciences and humanities

Degree in Social Science or other relevant to the position

Experience:

-   At least 1-year experience working with NGOs and civil society in development and emergency interventions.

-   Experience of working in the field of mental health and psychosocial support.

-   Must have experience in individual as well as in community work.

-       Experience of working in emergency and crisis contexts

-       Experience with people with disabilities

Skills :

-   Proven ability to raise awareness on MHPSS.

-    Approach to working with community-based organisations.

-   Knowledge in English ; Ukrainian, Russian is desirable.

-   Respect and promote individual and cultural differences;

Salary: 10 700 MDL -13 600 MDL / month

Duration of Contract: 3 months with possibility of renewal

 

8-Commitments

  • Compliance with institutional policies: Child Protection Policy, PEASH Policy, Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy, Disability, Gender, Age Policy, and Code of Conduct;
  • Compliance with the rules of procedure;
  • Respect for the safety rules defined in the Safety Plan. General safety is linked to the behaviour of each individual. The behaviour of each individual has an impact on the safety of all;
  • Report all relevant security information to the project security manager and inform immediately of security incidents involving our organisation;
  • Attendance / Punctuality;
  • Availability: the technician may be required to travel outside his/her place of residence for extended periods of time, or to carry out activities or assignments during weekends and public holidays;
  • Total discretion regarding the functioning of the organisation and its members;

The tasks and responsibilities of the physiotherapist described in this job profile are not exhaustive and may change according to the needs of the project.

Any breach of confidentiality will be considered gross misconduct.

 

10- HI equipment

The employee is responsible for the equipment entrusted to him/her for the performance of his/her duties and may only use it for strictly professional purposes.
