People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. Position overview

People in Need is recruiting a Project Field Assistant to support the implementation of the anticipated Czech Development Agency grant – “Modernization, innovation and use of knowledge for the Moldovan dairy sector (MILK)” – to support the management of effective and efficient technical, financial and compliance activities to deliver work in accordance with PIN’s contractual obligations.

Short description of the project

The intention of the project is to focus on improving the economic conditions of small and medium-sized farmers by strengthening the dairy value chain in northern Moldova, using a market systems development (MSD) approach and using knowledge and technical experts from the Czech Republic and Moldova. The project will create regional platforms for the coordination of the dairy sector, strengthen the capacity of milk collective centres, improve farmers’ access to the veterinary advice and also ensure access to quality genetic material for crossbreeding. As a result, the proposed project should strengthen the efficiency and cooperation of market participants throughout the dairy value chain and increase the productivity and milk quality of small and medium-sized cattle farmers.

Technical focus
The Project Field Assistant’s primary role is to support in the implementation of the project activities under the leadership of the Project Manager. S/he works directly with beneficiaries while continually informs the Project Manager about the progress and changing conditions in the field.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • support the overall project management and the implementation of MILK project activities;
  • organizes and conducts individual meetings with beneficiaries;
  • supports with the distribution of financial assistance to beneficiaries;
  • collects information relevant for project implementation from communities and administration;
  • supports Monitoring department with data collection from beneficiaries;
  • supports the Project Manager in planning and implementing of the project;
  • continuously informs the management about progress in project activities implementation;
  • implements other project related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualification:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the NGO field with a focus on civil society development programs;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Knowledge of Moldovan agriculture sector (knowledge of dairy sector and market system development approach is a strong asset);
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite application, particularly with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, social media skills represent an advantage;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Good writing and speaking skills in Romanian and Russian languages. English is an advantage. 

Desirable skills:

  • Project management understanding, including organizational skills, strong attention to detail, excellent time management;
  • Ability to do multi-tasking and to work under tight deadlines;
  • Previous experience in community work;
  • A good listener, builds and maintains effective relationships with colleagues, team members and external partners at the community level;
  • Reliable and self-reliant personality.
