OCCUPATION TITLE: Nurse / Midwife

Main mission:

To outreach persons in need of follow-up consultations.

To conduct nursing consultations and improve the quality of treatment.

To train and build skills among MdM and/or partner paramedical staff.

Main activities:

• Engaging with communities to identify needs
• Creating, updating and monitoring patient and user cases
• Carrying out consultations, nursing care and vaccinations
• Applying protocols and procedures
• Advising, monitoring, and providing information to patients/users
• Organizing and following patient-user referrals
• Managing materials, equipment, and consumables for the activity
• Managing the activity's pharmacy
• Dispensing medical supplies
• Reporting information and observations to members of the medical and social teams
• Facilitating health education sessions for partners, patients/users, community workers, etc. for MdM and/or our partners
• Supervising the cleaning and sterilization of material and equipment
• Collecting data and draft activity reports
• Contributing to the management of medical waste
• Contributing to representing MdM with partners and health authorities
• Contributing to evaluation missions, impact studies, capitalization studies, etc

 Main skills:

•  Grasp international medical standards relating to nursing care and specific follow up programs (SRH, HIV, TB) hygiene and asepsis, vaccination (logistical conditions to be implemented), screening and outreach activities
• Note symptoms, signs, identify the patient's living environment, conduct a clinical examination, and identify clinical needs
• Understand protocols and procedures regarding hygiene, cleaning and sterilization of material and equipment
• Work in a team
• Write professional reports, collect, and analyze data, organize, classify, and communicate information
• Understand the general principles of pharmacy management
• Organize activities
• Implement health training and education activities
• Adapt communication to the audience
• Know how to approach a cultural and social context. Identify and understand a society's norms, customs, and practices
• Use distancing techniques
