On 31 of January 2014, the Council of Ambassadors of Visegrad Fund approved grant projects submit­ted within last year’s dead­lines of Extended Standard Grants. From 23 accepted projects, the project entitled Introducing EU standards in Moldova: towards a new model of cooperation and planning has been approved.

It is first project from the Extended Standard Program financed by Visegrad Fund in Moldova under the implementation of National Institute for Economic Research acting as the project coordinator. Other partners are: Inspiro Consulting LLC (Moldova), University of South Bohemia in Českých Budějovice (Czech Republic), Forum Ruchu Europejskiego (Poland), Szent Istvan University (Hungary), and Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia). Target group is represented by Moldovan Local Public Authorities. 

The project aims to contribute to regional development through increasing steering capacity of public administration and competencies of the institutions responsible for development in Moldova.

The project consists in strengthening the self-governance and local democracy, good management practices in the local administration with respect to V4 countries experience. As well the character of the project consists in strengthening the cooperation between V4 and Moldova local public representatives.

The man phases of the project consist in:

1. Train the local public authorities on the issue of planning/implementation and inter-municipal cooperation
2. Organize study visits for selected public authorities from Moldova in Visegrad regions in order to share good knowledge on planning and system functionality
3. Organize an international conference on Regional Development and Inter-municipal cooperation
4. Elaborate integrated development plans for few selected municipalities.

Details about the Visegrad Fund. The International Visegrad Fund is an inter­na­tional orga­ni­za­tion based in Bratislava founded by the gov­ern­ments of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries—the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Republic of  Poland, and the Slovak Republic in Štiřín, Czech Republic, on June 9, 2000.

The pur­pose of the Fund is to facil­i­tate and pro­mote the devel­op­ment of closer coop­er­a­tion among cit­i­zens and insti­tu­tions in the region as well as between the V4 region and other coun­tries, espe­cially the Western Balkans and coun­tries of the Eastern Pa rtnership. The Fund does so through grant sup­port of com­mon cul­tural, sci­en­tific and edu­ca­tional projects, youth exchanges, cross-border projects and tourism pro­mo­tion, and through indi­vid­ual mobil­ity pro­grams (schol­ar­ships, residencies).
