Call for Applications: Media Partner to Provide Coverage of Selective Justice Cases

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Freedom House invites applications for funding and support from media outlets based in the Republic of Moldova to bring attention to the issue of selective justice by producing and distributing media products throughout the country. The selected media outlet will provide regular coverage of high-profile cases monitored by Freedom House as well as instances of abuses in the justice sector to strengthen public demand for justice sector reform.
Freedom House will select one (1) application to receive up to $10,000. Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Organizational readiness – does the application clearly demonstrate the capacity to fulfill the requirements of the contract and produce a high-quality output?
- Scope of coverage – does the applicant clearly articulate a plan of regular, frequent coverage across various mediums (print, online, television, etc.), regions, and audiences?
- Audience and reach – does the applicant demonstrate a high level of authentic engagement with its content?
ELIGIBILITY
Only established non-commercial or independent media outlets active in the Republic of Moldova are eligible for participation in this program. Individuals, government, or quasi-government bodies are not eligible for funding.
AWARD INFORMATION
Selection decisions will be made by January 24, 2023. Proposals may cost up to $10,000. Selected organizations will receive up to 12 months of financial assistance beginning in February 2023, and will work closely with and report to Freedom House staff on funded activities for the duration of the grant period.

This activity is part of Freedom House’s project “Moldova Justice Sector Accountability”, supported by the US State Department, which aims to support the advancement of an inclusive, accountable, and rights-based approach to governance and democratic reforms.
