Did you know that MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service in the USA? 

On January 23, join us to find out why MLK Day is about service. 

Guided by Violeta Talandis, Foreign Service Officer, you will learn how the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was transformed into a day of community service, encouraging all Americans to volunteer and help solve social problems.

*Violeta Talandis is a Foreign Service Officer with experience serving in India, Armenia, Eritrea, Washington, and Guyana. She has a Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan, from which she received a Fulbright scholarship to study in Lithuania. Violeta is the Regional Engagement Public Specialist covering Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova (REPS). She speaks Russian, Armenian, and Lithuanian.
