Movie Screening | Gravity

On the occasion of World Space Week, America House Chisinau will screen “Gravity”, a movie set in the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space.

The movie presents the story of a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, and a veteran astronaut in command of his last flight before retiring.

As the disaster strikes and the shuttle is destroyed, the two are left completely alone, spiraling out into the blackness, without any chance for rescue.

Despite the anxious narrative pace, “Gravity” is a celebration of life, of its fragility, of how important it is for us to protect it. As exploring species, human beings love to go beyond the known, to both Space and the depths of the Earth itself. Through the metaphors of shipwreck and wilderness survival stories, the movie teaches about psychological change and resilience in the aftermath of a catastrophe and adversity.
