In-House Translator for Prosecutors Vetting Commission Secretariat

Background
In 2021, the Government of the Republic of Moldova launched a comprehensive justice sector reform aimed at strengthening integrity, accountability, and public trust in the justice system. As part of this reform, an extraordinary vetting process of judges and prosecutors is being conducted.
The Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC), mandated by the European Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, supports the work of the Prosecutors’ Vetting Commission (“Commission 3”) and its Secretariat. CILC is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of In-House Translator.
Position: In-House Translator
The In-House Translator will support the Commission members and the Secretariat by ensuring high-quality translation and language assistance related to the vetting process. The translator will work closely with legal advisors, analysts, and administrative staff.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Translating official documents, reports, correspondence, and legal materials related to the activities of the Commission and Secretariat;
- Providing interpretation support during meetings, hearings, or discussions when required;
- Ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency of terminology in translated documents;
- Editing and proofreading documents prepared in English or Romanian;
- Providing ad hoc language support to Commission members and Secretariat staff.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- University degree in translation, linguistics, law, international relations, or a related field;
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in translation or interpretation;
- Excellent written and spoken English and Romanian (minimum B2 level CEFR);
- Experience translating legal or institutional documents is an asset;
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a high-performance environment;
- High level of personal and professional integrity.
General Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Project duration: until March 2027.
- One-month probation period.
- Moldovan nationals offered a full-time position may suspend obligations with their current Moldova-based employer but may not be actively engaged with or paid by another organization during the contract period.
- Remuneration will follow CILC salary scales, based on qualifications and experience.
- Signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement and compliance with the Code of Conduct for Secretariat staff are mandatory.
