American Councils for International Education in Moldova is Hiring: FLEX Program Coordinator – Chisinau, Moldova

Reports to: American Councils Executive Director in Moldova
Employment Type: Full-time, with flexible schedule based on program activities
Contract Duration: Fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of extension, starting May 2026.

American Councils for International Education is an international non-profit organization with over 50 years of experience implementing educational and exchange programs worldwide. Through its work, American Councils supports leadership development, civic engagement, and cross-cultural understanding.The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program is a U.S. Government–funded high school exchange program that offers students the opportunity to study in the United States for one academic year. The program aims to develop future leaders by promoting mutual understanding, democratic values, and active civic participation.
American Councils Moldova is seeking a FLEX Program Coordinator to manage and coordinate the full FLEX program cycle at the national level.
Position SUMMARY
The Moldova FLEX Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all FLEX program cycle components in Moldova including recruitment, testing administration and testing materials distribution, notification, pre-departure orientations, departure and return travel. The Program Coordinator is the primary point of contact for the FLEX program in Moldova and is responsible for the facilitation of visa and travel logistics and serves as the primary point of contact for on-program support (OPS) for FLEX participants who are on program in the U.S. and their parents, all in coordination with Washington DC staff. The Program Coordinator must be available for scheduled travel in Moldova and occasionally to other locations. This is a fixed-term position, offered for the duration of the current Program Coordinator’s maternity leave, or for one year with the possibility of extension. This is a full-time position that reports to the American Councils Executive Director for Moldova and works in conjunction with Washington-based program managers and program support teams.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate all components of the FLEX program cycle in Moldova including:
- Coordinating FLEX participant recruitment, including securing testing locations, administering student testing, conducting interviews, organizing informational meetings for students and parents across Moldova, processing applications, and tracking program data;
- Coordinating participant visa interview processes in collaboration with relevant stakeholders;
- Planning and delivering pre-departure orientations;
- Coordinating all logistical arrangements for FLEX finalists before departure and after completion of the program year;
- Providing on-program support to FLEX participants and their parents, in coordination with Washington DC staff;
- Representing the FLEX program in Moldova to the general public, local institutions, government officials, media, the U.S. Embassy, and other partner organizations, as needed;
- Promoting the FLEX program year-round through ongoing communication with schools and relevant organizations, online outreach, and active social media presence;
- Managing the finalist notification process, including the collection, review, and organization of all required documentation;
- Monitoring program funds, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budget development and tracking, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree; Master’s preferred;
- Fluent in English, Romanian and Russian;
- Flexibility to occasionally work on weekends and evenings;
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and multicultural interpersonal skills;
- Outstanding time management, organization and planning skills;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite and common social media platforms;
- Experience in social media promotion, digital outreach, and content creation;
- Experience traveling under difficult conditions;
- Must be authorized to work in Moldova;
- Experience studying in a U.S. high school or university preferred;
