CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is looking for a Project Officer
Background: CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking. CMI has been working in Moldova since 2011.
Objective of the Call: CMI is now seeking a fixed-term Project Officer, 18 months with possibility of extension, to support the implementation of CMI’s project in Moldova.
The Project Officer will be responsible for:
- Supporting project management including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, as well as budget management and donor compliance
- Drafting internal and donor reports, and internal and external written products such as briefing notes, meeting notes, non-papers etc;
- Coordinating and organising complex events, including arranging international travel and logistical support for these events, for project team members, CMI experts and advisors;
- Liaising with external stakeholders on organizational and operational matters, participating in regular meetings and travels to the region and other destinations relevant for the project, engaging with stakeholders.
- Support to other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
A successful candidate is expected to have:
- A university degree in international relations, political science, sociology, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in relevant tasks, preferably in an international setting in the field of development cooperation, strengthening civil society, youth engagement or national minorities.
- Good understanding and practical experience of planning, monitoring and reporting, as well as budgeting and financial monitoring. Experience of working with EU-funded projects is considered an asset.
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English and Romanian, strong command of Russian language;
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, conflict sensitivity and good political judgement;
- Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances and to tight timelines;
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills — as well as experience in working on politically sensitive matters;
- Commitment to CMI values and principles.
The Project Officer will report to the Project Manager within CMI’s Eurasia Programme. The position is located in Chisinau, Moldova.
