Background: CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking. CMI has been working in Moldova since 2011.

Objective of the Call: CMI is now seeking a fixed-term Project Manager, 18 months with possibility of extension, to provide substantive expertise and coordination support to implementation of CMI’s project in Moldova. 

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

• Leading the implementation of a project, coordinating work planning, providing everyday guidance and ensuring responsible and efficient implementation of the work, including providing oversight and supervision of funding and related resources;
• Maintaining and developing cooperation with relevant stakeholders, including working with the team to maintain a responsive model of cooperation with the decision-making authorities; 
• Monitoring contextual developments in the region and leading the development of new workstreams if needed, responding to these in cooperation with other members within the team; 
• Leading the planning, implementation and monitoring of a project, including budget responsibility and reporting in close cooperation with the donor; 
• Team management; acting as supervisor to project staff and liaising with consultants regarding cooperation to ensure efficient project implementation;
• Developing networks and partnerships, and maintaining contacts to CMI’s partners in coordination with other senior members within the team; 
• Participating in the development of the overall CMI programme in Eurasia file, and engaging in cross-team working;
• Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

A successful candidate is expected to have:

• a Master’s degree in political science, sociology, or related disciplines, alternatively, a university degree in a relevant field combined with 5 equivalent years of relevant professional experience;
• a minimum of five (5) years of managing and implementing projects in development cooperation, strengthening civil society, youth engagement or national minorities, experience working with EU-funded projects would be considered as an asset;
• demonstrated experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including budget oversight, strategic planning, and donor reporting;
• solid leadership, project management (e.g. strategic development, budgeting, results-based management, supervisory skills) and fundraising skills;
• excellent communication and teamworking skills — as well as experience in working on politically sensitive matters;
• excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, gender sensitivity and good political judgement;
• a flexible attitude and ability to work in a dynamic, international team with sometimes tight timelines and under pressure;
• strong analytical and writing skills as well as good IT skills;
• fluent written and spoken skills in English and Romanian; strong command of the Russian language is seen as an asset;
• commitment to CMI values and principles.

The Project Manager will report to the Moldova Country Manager, CMI’s Eurasia Programme. The position is located in Chisinau, Moldova.
