Council of Europe is hiring a Project Linguistic Assistant
Your Team
The Council of Europe Office in Chisinau facilitates, maintains and strengthens working relationships between the Council of Europe and the national authorities (mainly the government and parlaiment), regional and local authorities, representatives of civil society, political parties and the media, as well as members of the international community.
You will be part of the team implementing the Project “Improving electoral practice in the Republic of Moldova (IEPRM), 2025-2028” within the Parliamentary and Electoral Cooperation Division of the Secretariat of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
This 48-month project, which started in January 2025, aims to strengthen the integrity, transparency, professionalism and inclusiveness of electoral processes, and align electoral legislation and practices with European standards.
Your Role
As a Project Linguistic Assistant, you will:
- provide linguistic assistance, including consecutive interpretation during meetings, translation, proofreading, and editing of project documents in English and Romanian;
- provide logistical and administrative assistance, including the preparation of financial documents, assistance to the project team in the planning, organisation and follow-up of the project activities, in accordance with the project workplan and calendar of activities and in co-operation with local and international partners and stakeholders;
- make practical arrangements related to project activities (travel, visa requests, accommodation and meeting venue bookings, local transport arrangements, interpretation, etc.);
- draft and format correspondence, memos, relevant project documents, contract letters and financial arrangements in line with instructions and relevant procedures;
- organise and keep project documents and files up to date (activity planning, official reports, expertise and other documents, outgoing and incoming correspondence, contact lists);
- ensure the circulation of pertinent information and documents among the project team and the Office;
- report to the supervisor on activities in progress and inform him/her of any problems encountered;
- carry out other tasks as required connected to the efficient project implementation;
- promote Council of Europe values internally and externally.
Requirements to apply
You must:
- hold a completed full course of general secondary education and appropriate professional qualifications in one of the following fields: administration, foreign languages/English, law, finance, political sciences, and international relations;
- have a minimum of 3 years of cumulative relevant professional experience in carrying out linguistic and administrative duties in the field of international or European co-operation projects;
- have excellent knowledge of Romanian (mother tongue) and English;
- be a citizen of the host country or one of the 46 member States of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
- be present in the Republic of Moldova;
- have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
- not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
- be under the age of 65 years.

What we offer
