Job Description

Learning Objectives
Under the overall supervision of the Program Support Unit Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation/Information Management (M&E/IM) Officer, the successful candidate will contribute to a broad range of M&E and IM activities within the mission. Their primary focus will be supporting emergency projects, including Enhancing Moldova's Protection Capacity and the Ukraine response. 

Responsibilities

         Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Support the design and update of relevant information products, including situation reports, annual reports, info sheets and other materials as required.
  • Support all data collection exercises which include data collection in the field and through online/phone call.  
  • Support preparation of M&E tools/surveys, data cleaning and analysis. 
  • Support to create visual data elements such as graphs, maps and dashboards. 
  • Support the implementation of the Knowledge Management activities, including updating and managing the Moldova Data Hub SharePoint site, and liaising with various units to ensure all content is continuously up to date. 
  • Assist in developing and delivering training and workshops to enhance M&E and IM skills. 
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned. 

    Training Components and Learning Elements:
  • Opportunity to put his/her academic learning into practice, especially to gain practical experiences in the field of humanitarian work, social work, data analytics, M&E, project implementation & management.
  • The Intern will gain experience in data analysis and visualization, enhancing their ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • The Intern will acquire skills in SharePoint site, content organization, and site customization.
  • The Intern can also access online training courses at the disposal of all IOM staff.
  • The Intern will have the opportunity to interact with IOM staff within Headquarters and IOM Missions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION 

Enrolled or recently completed Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Math, or Data science, Information Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. 

EXPERIENCE 

Having experience in data collection, analysis and research is an advantage.

Having experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is an advantage. 

Having knowledge of and previous experience designing and implementing research tools such as surveys is an advantage. 

Having knowledge of mobile data collection through electronic surveys is an advantage 

Having knowledge of and previous experience working with data analysis programs such as SPSS, Stata, NVIVO and PowerBi is an advantage. 

SKILLS

Strong organizational and time management skills 

Willingness to travel inside Moldova 
 

Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 

Required:

For this position, working knowledge of English, and fluency in Romanian and Russian are required (oral and written).

Desirable:

Working knowledge of Ukrainian is an advantage

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: 
a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first accredited university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or 
b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second accredited university degree or equivalent, or higher); or 
c) Have graduated with an accredited university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. 

All applicants must be between 20 and 36 years of age.

  1. This post is subject to local selection. Only those holding a valid residence and work permit for the country where this position is based will be eligible for consideration.

You are required to provide, before your internship commences, proof of valid medical insurance coverage at the duty station covering the full period of the internship.
