American Councils - Program Assistant - SURE Project
POSITION TYPE: part-time, 18 hours/week
EMPLOYMENT DURATION: 8 months, January 9, 2024, until August 31, 2024.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chisinau-based Program Assistant is responsible for overseas functions related to the SURE program and other office programs developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy, or other partners. This position reports to the Country Director in Chisinau and to SURE Program Coordinator, and works in conjunction with program managers in Washington, DC and the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau. The position is a limited-term, part-time position.
ABOUT SURE PROGRAM:
This project will encourage university students in Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia to promote social cohesion in communities where refugees from Ukraine reside and push back against anti-Ukraine/Ukrainian narratives online and offline. This project will increase public awareness about harmful disinformation spread by the Kremlin, its supporters inside and outside of Russia, and racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists (REMVEs) about refugees from Ukraine in the target countries and ensure that they can continue to live peacefully in these communities for as long as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Chisinau-based program assistant will support the SURE Program Coordinator based in Bucharest, Romania, in the coordination of the SURE Program. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate participant recruitment (securing participants, attending students’ sessions, visits, interviews, informational meetings for students and teachers’, data tracking, and English-Polish translations).
- Prepare social media posts.
- Communicate with funders and partners.
- Data collection
- Logistical preparation of virtual and in-person events
- Preparing monthly financial reports.
- Preparing monthly budget requests.
- Contribute to the writing and editing of narrative reports, including data collection.
- Support arrangements for consultants, program staff and partners to travel to visit field-offices, including flights, visas, and accommodation.
- Assists with the planning of events such as visits by foreign delegations and conferences.
- Performs copying, filing, clerical, and other duties as assigned.
- In-country and outside country travelling.
- Delivering public presentations, including audio and video interviews.
- Other tasks connected to American Councils programs, as instructed by Country Director or SURE Program Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors in relevant field (business, international relations, management, etc.)
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Propensity for strict attentiveness to details, deadlines, and maintaining files.
- Aptitude for working with numbers and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to an overall team effort.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a consultative environment.
- Proven interpersonal effectiveness in cross-cultural and long-distance work environments.
