The U.S. Embassy is hiring a Defense Threat Reduction Agency Program Assistant

Duties
Under direction of the DTRA Regional Office Chief, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Program Assistant (PA) persistently engages with a diverse array of senior and national-level officials in law enforcement, military, maritime, transportation, security, academic, human/animal health sciences and the private sector throughout Moldova, to identify, mitigate, and/or counter complex Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) threats. This position may require limited international travel.
Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in program management in the field of: military, biological science, or international relations.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: This selectee must have a basic knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) issues, law enforcement and/or disaster preparedness/response. The selectee will also have an understanding of transnational crime and public/animal health issues in Moldova.
Education Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields of study: military, law enforcement, international relations, or public policy.
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluency) speaking/reading/writing English and Romanian is required. (This may be tested)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Required to be proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to draft precise and complete reports in English, with strategic context with limited requirement for editing.
- Ability to manage multiple, complex and diverse tasks simultaneously and for extended periods.
- Ability to exercise initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information, assistance, and support with minimal oversight.
- Must possess valid host country type B driver's license. Must have had driver’s license for a minimum of five years (Driving skills may be tested.)
