Solicitation for Consultant Services
The International Republican Institute (IRI) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), dedicated to advancing democracy worldwide. The IRI Moldova office in Chisinau – is looking to engage a contractor to monitor Moldovan politics. The IRI Moldova office focuses on advancing freedom and democracy in the Eurasia region. The office is looking for a highly motivated and pro-active contractor to provide support in monitoring of Moldova’s political developments. The consultant will be expected to monitor and evaluate the progress of relevant reform initiatives at the parliamentary and ministerial level that reflect principles of democratic governance and European legislative standards.
Scope of Work:
- Conduct analysis on Moldovan politics and produce a weekly situation report that specifically highlights specific legislative or public actions to advance reform areas. (The guidance on reform areas of focus will be provided by IRI representatives.)
- Monitor social media and other local news outlets online and in print to gather the information required for situation reports and identify priority topics discussed by the Moldovan Parliament.
- Attend relevant in-person/online events as a private individual when applicable.
Required Skills:
- Good understanding of Moldovan politics;
- The ability to effectively monitor progress of political developments, pertinent social media trends and unfolding events in Moldovan Parliament through media, social media and other available sources independently.
- Fluency in Romanian and English (speaking, writing, and reading).
- Ability to work independently and within a team;
- Strong writing and analytical skills as demonstrated by a writing sample;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines;
- Facility with MS Word, Excel, and other database systems;
Rate: hourly pay of 232 Moldovan Lei. The consultant will be expected to commit to the average 8 hours per week to conduct the responsibilities listed.
