People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest reliefs and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 30 years. Position overview :
People in Need (PIN) has been working in Moldova since 2003, providing development support to the local population in three focus areas: agriculture and economy, social protection and inclusion, and civil society empowerment and engagement. Since the conflict in Ukraine escalated in February and brought the consequent displacement into neighbouring countries, PIN started providing humanitarian assistance focusing on protection, cash transfers to host population, and education. Education and child protection assistance through the “Building Resilience in Children through Knowledge and Social Skills (BRICKSS)” project provides a Digital Learning Centre (DLC) for Ukrainian refugee children studying online and a Child-Friendly Space (CFS) which brings together Ukrainian and Moldovan children in Causeni.
Technical focus:
Working under the supervision of BRICKSS Project Manager, the BRICKSS Project Officer will support the BRICKSS education and child protection programme response to the Ukraine refugee crisis. S/he will support capacity development efforts for PIN’s partners and the DLC/CFS facilitators.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support with administrative aspects of the project, under supervision of Junior Project Manager, putting together and following up with procurement requests, filing of relevant documentation in ELO - all project specific files/contracts, associated to technical specifications related to the nature of the project activities
- Perform regular field visits to support PIN’s local partners and DLC/CFS facilitators, monitor field activities, provide reports on field visits and share them when requested with direct supervisor, Head of Emergency Response, Education in Emergencies Advisor and relevant departments
- Assist MEAL department with organizing project monitoring and evaluation following the project MEAL plan
- Support with any project specific reporting requirements, drafting project documents including Terms of Reference, official letters, reports, etc.
- Keep project documentation (hard copies and on ELO) and work with finance and logistics staff to ensure all project procurements and contracts follow PIN and donor procedures
Qualification:
- Higher education in international development, education, social sciences or other relevant fields
- Internship and/or relevant experience with international organization or national civil society organizations
- At least 3 years of work experience in positions that entail responsibility for project activity implementation or support of local partners
- Familiar with sectoral approach, specifically in education, is an advantage
- Self-starter, able to work under pressure with demonstrated ability to take on new initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent command of English, Russian and Romanian, Ukrainian is an advantage
- Willing to travel across Moldova
