GIZ - Junior Advisor on Economic Policy



GIZ is looking for a Junior Advisor on Economic Policy for its project “Strong Businesses and Communities for Moldova”, which is financed by both the European Union as well as the German Government.

This position is expected to start on 1st of November 2022 for a 12-month period, with a possibility of extension until 31 December 2025. The permanent workplace for this position is in Chisinau.

The Junior Advisor will contribute to overall project activities for improvement of framework conditions for doing business and private sector development on national and regional level. In particularly, the primary role of the Junior Advisor is to support the advisors in the Component Regional Economic Development (both policy as well as the regional advisors) and perform independent activities within the area of policy advice related to (local/regional) economic development.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Organisational Development, Law, Engineering, or other relevant fields
  • at least 2 years of professional experience, ideally in the area of (economic) development would be considered a strong advantage
  • previous professional expertise in interacting with the private sector, intermediary organisations as well as government stakeholders represents an advantage
  • professional experience in policy advice, consulting, or capacity development with a focus on public authorities and sustainable economic development represents an advantage
  • professional experience in working with and for vulnerable groups and/or regional public authorities represents an advantage
  • knowledge and understanding of capacity development approaches and Moldova policy processes on national and regional level represents an advantage
  • ability to identify, assess and develop opportunities and to effectively manage relationships with national partners and other GIZ partners
  • coordination, networking, and relationship building skills with key partners including government, the business community, CSOs, national and local organizations
  • proven excellent written and verbal skills in Romanian and English
  • good working knowledge of IT technologies and computer applications (MS Office package)
  • ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with excellent time management skills
  • willingness and ability to learn and to work in a team
  • ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Moldovan citizenship or holding permanent resident status in Moldova.
