TEKEDU Project Manager for STEAM Board Game
TEKEDU is a non-profit organisation founded in 2014, driven by a mission to empower young people in tech, social entrepreneurship and leadership skills. TEKEDU implements GirlsGoIT, a community programme for girls access in and through tech; UPSHIFT, a social entrepreneurship for adolescent and youth.
About STEAM Board Game:
STEAM stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics”. STEAM board game is a career planning board game played between 2 to 4 people. The educational purpose of the game is to help girls and boys (aged 12 to 20) in planning their future career and professional orientation in the fields of STEAM. Young people engaged in playing the board game will understand the future of work and career and help them identify what learning path and curve to take in choosing a career in STEAM.
STEAM Board game is implemented in partnership with MEGA Generation
The project is funded by a grant from the Institute of War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) with the support of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The overall goal for developing a STEAM Board game is to increase the participation of young women in discussion and decision making, for better gender inclusive education and career awareness in STEAM and opportunities.
STEAM Board game will focus on two (4) main objectives:
- Identify, induct and engage 8 youth champions from Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee centre. The 8 champions will be involved in the STEAM board game development life cycle and coordination of local outreach activities
- Design thinking workshops organised in three (3) Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee, involving girls and boys between the ages 12 to 20, to participate in the co-designing and decision-making of STEAM board game
- Development of STEAM board game on native mobile application (Android) by undergoing full User Experience (UX) process. In addition, the board game will have printed version for distribution in high schools, youth centres and public libraries
- Awareness raising conducted in three (3) selected cities and a refugee centre where the design thinking workshop will be organised.
STEAM Board Game Manager profile:
Been involved in a youth programme with experience and knowledge in event/workshop management and coordination. Can communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Actively participate in identifying 8 youth champions from Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee centre (2 youth champions per region, 2 from refugee centre). Support in determining the criteria for selecting the youth champions and plan their induction to become STEAM board game champions
- Organise induction ceremony of selected youth champions. Prepare induction materials and their step-to-step involvement in the development life cycle of STEAM board game and design thinking workshop to be organised in Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee centre
- Handle the planning, preparation and implementation of the design thinking workshop to be organised in Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee centre. Involve selected youth champions in planning and organising the workshop and logistics required and determined together
- Support and assist product development team with research and analysis for the development STEAM board game on native mobile app (Android). Printing of board games and distribution in high schools, youth centres and public libraries.
- Actively support selected youth champions in planning and preparing STEAM board game outreach and support online promotion on social media
- Overall, manage project activities and event timeline. Prepare and manage events and workshop budget, contracts and end-to-end finance
What we offer:
- Part-time service contract for five (5) months duration.
- Starts November 2022 to March 2023
- It is Hybrid and in-office work, with flexible working hours.
- It is paid. Salary will be discussed during interview stage
Important note: it is required to be physically available during planning and implementation of design thinking workshops to be organised in Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and a refugee centre.
