General information:
DVV International is the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V., DVV). DVV represents the interests of the approximately 900 adult education centres (Volkshochschulen, VHS) and their state associations, the largest further education providers in Germany. As the leading professional organisation in the field of adult learning & education (ALE) and development cooperation, DVV International has committed itself to promote the right for lifelong learning worldwide and has been implementing country programmes of development cooperation in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe for more than 50 years. DVV International strengthens national ALE-systems in partner countries and provides support for the establishment and development of sustainable structures for youth and adult education. The project approach of DVV International targets improved conditions in policy, legislation and financing (macro level) as well as promotion of professionalisation in practice and theory of ALE (meso level) and requires cooperation both with government institutions such as ministries and city administrations as well as with civil society organisations, universities, and other educational providers. By supporting our partners (usually, adult education centres), in developing and piloting exemplary concrete learning offers (micro level), especially for disadvantaged population groups, we create best practice and evidence of the benefit of ALE. DVV International finances its work through funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Federal Foreign Office, the European Union, etc.
For the implementation of the regional component
within its engagement in the Eastern Neighbours region,
DVV International is announcing a vacancy for the full-time position of the
Project assistant
The Project assistant of the regional component will be based in Chisinau (Moldova), and work closely with the Project coordinator, public relations and media manager as well as with the Head of the regional component towards the goals of the project, ensuring timely and quality implementation. She/He will initiate and oversee day‐to‐day progress of activities throughout the project region[1]. The project assistant will oversee tasks delegated to her/him by the project manager, coordinate with all necessary counterparts and service providers, and ensure that the project is moving forward on time and on budget. The candidate must be highly organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise tasks while working independently.
Major responsibilities and duties:
- Working collaboratively with the Head of the regional component and team to maximize productivity;
- Collaborating with the whole project team, contributing to the entire project lifecycle;
- Supporting project visibility in accordance with donor guidelines;
- Participating in the preparation, implementation and presentation of results of the project;
- Coordinating efforts within the team and with outside consultants efficiently;
- Report updates verbally and in written form to management;
- Monitor budget and help ensure resources are used efficiently;
- Complete any necessary administrative tasks, such as research, commercial offers and email;
- Demonstrate commitment to projects' needs and efforts continuously;
- Other similar duties connected with the project implementation.
Qualification requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience;
- Higher education degree;
- Good knowledge of English and Russian languages, knowledge of German language is an asset;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Keen attention to detail and able to proactively address potential issues;
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
- Collaborative working style and team-player attitude.
