I. Organizational context

Public Association “Law Centre of Advocates” (LCA) is a public association, a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit association registered at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova on 24 February 1997. The LCA's primary propose is to promote the human rights of people in need of international protection (refugees, asylum-seekers), stateless people, people at risk of becoming stateless and vulnerable immigrants (including foreigners detained in public custody) who are most marginalized and at risk of human rights violations.

LCA is looking for a qualified person for the vacant position of the PI officer. This is a full - time (100%) until 31 August 2022, subject to further extension based on performance.

II. Responsibilities

PI officer will be responsible for increasing the visibility and promotion of LCA in Moldova in the humanitarian context of the current Ukrainian crisis and beyond, through collaborations with the media, publishing and information, and through advocacy activities and campaigns. Some of the responsibilities are listed below, but we are not limited to them:

  • create LCA image with impact on all relevant entities in the country, both governmental and non-governmental, ensuring visibility, communication and information about the organization and its activities related to the crisis in Ukraine and beyond.
  • design different ways of communicating information to the elderly, decision-makers and key audiences, and will coordinate communication activities to support communication and advocacy in key areas of LCA;
  • maintain and develop the relationship with media representatives, organize events with the participation of the media and ensure the maximum possible distribution of information throughout the national media, create and maintain a media database;
  • be involved in the development, editing and distribution of regular publications, information materials (newsletters, case studies, social media posts, project conference summaries, brochures, leaflets, etc.);
  • manage the LCA site (you will be responsible for content and updates), will manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).

III. Qualifications and skills required:

  • university degree in journalism or related areas
  • at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • fluency in Romanian, Russian and English.
  • ability to produce high-level written material under tight deadlines
  • strong organizational skills, initiative and follow-through, ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and team-oriented yet able to work independently
  • excellent communication skill
  • computer skills
  • willingness to work with people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds
  • adhere to the core values of the United Nations; in particular, is respectful of differences of culture, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, language, age, HIV status, disability, and sexual orientation, or other status

Institutional arrangements:

  • All communications and documentation related to the assignment are in English, Romanian, Russian

 

 

Management Arrangements:

  • The PI officer will work under the guidance of LCA Programs Director and Executive Director.
