ERIM is looking for a Project Manager: part-time

ERIM (IREX Europe doing business as ERIM) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Lyon, France. We provide innovative programmes to support human rights and strengthen independent media and media education. ERIM approach emphasizes partnerships with local development organisations to expand capacity, build sustainable institutions and affect change through training, partnerships, education, research and grant programmes.
ERIM is looking for an experienced Project Manager based in Moldova for a project aiming to Strengthening Independent Media and Media Literacy. The Consultant will be involved part-time (60%) in the project and will contribute to leading, managing and monitoring the project activities. The position is Moldova-based, with strong potential for travel in the regions.
The Project Manager will be required to work in proactive cooperation with the ERIM Project Management team in Lyon, as well as with the Program Director, based in Moldova. Co-working space will be provided if required.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to managing activities with the Program Director
- Maintain relationship with partners and grantees
- Oversee activities with grantees (contract, organization of their activities, reporting)
- Conduct continuous and final evaluation of the grantees’ activities, in liaison with ERIM’s Program Manager
- Transfer payment requests to Program Director for on-going agreements
- Conduct monitoring trips
- Provide quarterly financial and narrative reports to ERIM Program Manager
- Contribute to the Communication plan for the project.
Specific responsibilities (please note this list is not exhaustive and other tasks can be requested by the Program Manager and / or by the Lyon-based team):
- Strengthening Independent Media and Media Literacy in Moldova
Objective I - Strengthening local media
- Monitoring and evaluation of the project journalists and media partners.
- Press releases and/or articles about the events
- Organization, together with ERIM program manager, of the media capacity building (small grants component), both in-house and trainings
- Support to grantees in organizing the trainings, developing feedback forms
Objective II - Public platforms for discussion
- Public discussions planning and organization
- Expert identification, selection, contracting
- Evaluations of participants
- Press releases and/or articles about the events
Objective III - Promotion of media literacy through media and library partnerships
- Managing the selection process for the librarians
- Training planning and organization
- Monitoring and evaluation of the librarians: pre- and post-training
- Managing the launch, selection and awarding (sponsorship contracts, purchase of goods) process for Media Corner
- Press releases and/or articles about the events
Qualifications:
- Formal education – degree/masters in a relevant field of study (law, human rights, development, project management, social studies, international relations, etc) and/or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least three years’ experience in organisational capacity building, project management and support to CSOs
- A thorough knowledge and network of contacts of civil society organisations in Moldova
- Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule, with excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Romanian is mandatory, Russian language skills are a strong plus
- Knowledge of Media Information and Literacy is a plus
The consultant will be recruited under a consultancy contract for 9 months, with a start date on 1st of March 2021. Fees dependent on experience and in compliance with the ERIM project management scale.
