Peace Corps Moldova Technical Trainer for the Community and Oorganizational Development (COD) Program

LOCATION:               Based in Chișinău, Moldova

CLASSIFICATION:   Temporary contracted position for May-August 2026.

COMPENSATION:     Daily rate of $46.34 USD

TECHNICAL TRAINER FOR THE COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (COD) PROJECT

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Training Manager and in coordination with the COD Project Manager:

  • Works collaboratively with Peace Corps (PC) staff to design an integrated training curriculum to prepare the trainees to work as organizational development facilitators within Moldovan NGOs and public institutions, considering gender sensitive approaches and respect for diversity and inclusiveness in the local context
  • Designs training sessions following the principles of adult training and learning methodology, and in accordance with pre-established learning competencies.
  • Facilitates training on organizational development and capacity building topics to prepare American volunteers to serve in local civil society organizations
  • Coordinates the flow of the training including sessions, discussions, panels, field visits and practicum activities in the Pre-Service training communities, located outside of Chisinau.
  • Develops and implements practical community-oriented assignments which apply the knowledge and skills acquired through instruction.
  • Maintains training records and documentation and implements training evaluation.
  • Guides to the learning process and ensures systems for providing regular feedback to trainees.
  • Performs the tasks with a sense of respect for the cultural diversity of trainees and in a manner respectful to the local culture.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: University/college diploma in social/economic/ education or related field.
  • Experience: Three years progressively responsible work or related experience with training of adults, facilitation, teaching students in Moldovan educational institutions.
  • Languages: Excellent knowledge of English, Romanian and Russian ( the level will be tested during the interview).
  • Knowledge: A thorough knowledge and experience with Community and Organizational Development programs in Moldova, training philosophy, procedures, and methodologies. Knowledge of adult training principles, instructional design and methodology, communicative language teaching and acquisition content, and participatory facilitation of group experiences.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill and ability to design, implement and evaluate training both in-person and online.
  • Skill as a trainer, teacher, facilitator.
  • Knowledge of local cultural practices and of U.S. cultural attributes.
  • Courteous, attentive, and able to give and receive both positive and constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, patience and tolerance.
  • Collaborative and works well in teams. Well versed in the Moldovan Community and Organizational Developmental initiatives, Civil Society and Local Public Authorities problems, and having done actual community and organizational development work would be preferable.
  • Knowledge of the structure of public and non-governmental community organizations in Moldova.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
