Project Overview

Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is an eight-year (2019–2027) global health initiative project funded by the United States Department of State (DoS). The project receives Global Health Security funding to strengthen global, regional, and local public health systems, building on broad experience and existing capabilities that align with GHS priorities, National Action Plans for Health Security (NAPHS), and United States Department of State (DoS) goals.

EpiC is led by FHI 360 with core partners Right to Care (RTC), Palladium International, and Population Services International (PSI), and draws upon regional and local partners.  The project delivers high-quality technical assistance at the community, facility, district, regional and national levels, and builds relationships with relevant partners working to address health security issues. Our ability to respond quickly to program, technical and procurement needs leverage our deep bench of country-based clinical, program, and community experts.

In addition to its ongoing activities, following its official registration in the Republic of Moldova, Palladium is preparing to initiate several activities related to supporting European integration efforts and promoting democratic values.

This Opportunity

Palladium is currently seeking part-time Health-sector–experienced Interpreters to provide high-quality interpretation support for project activities, meetings, trainings, and coordination with national stakeholders. The position is part-time for the period 25 March – 30 September 2026, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and the availability of additional funding.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Health-sector–experienced Interpreter will be responsible for the following:

  • To serve as an official verbatim interpreter by providing high-quality interpretation primarily between Romanian and English, occasionally between Russian and English, and vice versa;
  • To provide consecutive interpretation services independently, including during official visits of international travellers, during coordination meetings with national stakeholders and other bilateral meetings, where the format and duration of the event allow for single-interpreter delivery.
  • To provide simultaneous interpretation project events/activities, such as in-person and online conferences, trainings, and coordination meetings with national stakeholders;
  • To provide high quality translation between Romanian and English, Russian and English, of different official documents and/or written official correspondence when needed;
  • To compile terminology to be used in translations and apply the relevant terms consistently;
  • To support international team members regarding their cultural integration during official visits;
  • To handle all information with utmost confidentiality and discretion;
  • To perform any other tasks as part of interpretation responsibilities.

Qualifications and experience:

  • University degree in interpretation/translation, languages, or related field;
  • At least five years proven successful experience of provision of interpretation service to international organizations for health sector activities;
  • Three or more years of relevant professional experience in consecutive and/or simultaneous Interpretation during official conferences;
  • Professional knowledge of terminology in one or more such fields as public health, epidemiology and health facilities, drugs, healthcare financing/education, and other relevant fields;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) and familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other social media platforms;
  • Demonstrated intercultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
