The Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau is currently accepting applications for a vacancy as Administrative and Communications Assistant, available from December.

  1. Responsibilities:

The Administrative and Communications Assistant will be responsible for all or some of the following duties:

  • Handling correspondence including the embassy’s mailbox with messages in English, Romanian and Russian
  • Take initiative and contribute to the embassy’s communication work in social media and other channels
  • Assisting in planning and bookings of meetings and programs
  • Reception and switchboard
  • Registration and archive
  • Secondarily responsible for the task of the ambassador’s assistant in case of absence

The work requires an ability to independently perform duties, including taking initiatives and assuming responsibility for the completion and delivery of individual tasks. 

  1. Essential qualifications:

Education: Higher level education in administration or related fields. Fluent in Romanian, English and Russian. Knowledge of the Swedish language is an asset.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in similar roles in international organizations, embassies or non-governmental organizations. Experience from practical work with communication, in particular with social media, is an asset.

Knowledge/skills: Excellent intra-personal skills. Service-mindedness. Ability to independently perform duties and to ensure the delivery and completion of tasks with attention to details, also under periods of high work load. Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks. Solid planning skills. Outgoing, motivated and willing to learn new things. Ability to adapt to a different cultural environment and to changing responsibilities. Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs incl. Word Outlook and Excel. Basic knowledge of desktop publishing and/or graphic design software such as Photoshop or InDesign is not a must, but would be an advantage.

  1. About us

The Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau has a total of six Swedish staff posted from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and eight locally employed staff.

The main tasks of the embassy are to:

  • Represent Sweden in Moldova and to strengthen and further develop bilateral relations
  • Implement the reform support strategy for the development cooperation with Moldova
  • Monitor and report on the political and economic development
  • Promote trade relationships and exchanges as well as other Swedish interests
  • Fulfill statutory administrative duties and
  • Contribute to a good cooperation and coordination with other embassies and international organizations.
