Embassy of Lithuania ends its functions as NATO contact point

The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova, NATO Information and Documentation Center organized the photo exhibition “Moldovian Army in Photos” which was opened in the Officers’ Club in Chisinau on December 20.

Ambassador of Lithuania Violeta Matulaitė, Defence Minister Vitalie Marinuta, the Chief of Moldovian Armed Forces Brigadier General Iurie Dominic, Lithuanian Defence Attache lt. col. Darius Aukčšionis, the director of NATO Information and Documentation Center Vitalie Grosu opened the exhibition.

The exhibition was the last event organized by Lithuanian Embassy in the capacity as NATO Contact Point Embassy in Moldova.  The Embassy performed this function in the years of 2009-2010. During this time NATO Information points were opened at the universities in Balti and Cahul, in the library of the Military Academy; NATO audiences opened at ULIM, Balti, Cahul Universities. The embassy together with NATO Information and Documentation Center organized various exhibitions, organized a trip for young professionals and representatives of civil society to NATO Headquarters in Belgium., and performed other activities.

The Embassy of Bulgaria will serve as a NATO Contact Point Embassy in Moldova starting from January 1, 2011.
