CLASSIFICATION:   Intermittent contracted position for May-August 2026-2030.

COMPENSATION:     Daily rate of $38.53 USD

RUSSIAN AND ROMANIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL FACILITATOR

RUSSIAN AND ROMANIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL Facilitator (LCF) The Pre-Services Training (PST) Language and Culture Facilitator (LCF) is responsible for delivering the intercultural engagement training program sessions and activities, which include language, cultural orientation, and homestay, to help Peace Corps Trainees (PCTs) develop the competence needed to integrate into the local communities as Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs). Under the supervision of the Training Manager (TM), who oversees all aspects of Pre-Services Training (PST), the LCF coordinates the daily activities with the Language and Community Integration Coordinator (LCIC) as their primary contact and works closely with the Senior Language and Culture Facilitator (SLCF) and with the Host Family Coordinator (HFS).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Training Manager, and in coordination with the Language and Community Intergradation Coordinator:

  • Plans and facilitates language, intercultural and community integration training.
  • Assists Trainees in developing technical language and appropriate behavior skills necessary for working as professionals in Moldova.
  • In accordance with the Agency’s regulations provides safety and security support to S. Trainees and staff.
  • Assists in designing and implementing integration of language with all training areas learning experiences and activities.
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates integrated sessions and activities as needed.
  • Gives suggestions for a better integration of language with other training areas in PST.
  • Assists Host Families and Peace Corps Trainees (PCTs) with adjustment challenges.
  • Helps PCTs develop authentic awareness of Moldova culture, language, people, and history through their homestay experience.
  • Assists with facilitating community integration and development assignments.
  • Coordinates PCTs-HFs interactions through the one-on-one support and session facilitation in collaboration with the Host Family Coordinator (HFC).
  • Coordinates PCTs’ homestay integration at the assigned PST site.
  • Supports PCTs’ intercultural learning and adjustment at the PST site and serves as a cultural informant for the PCTs and PCTs’ host families and encourages PCTs to integrate as much as possible.
  • Involves the host families in the homestay training, both as participants and as cultural resources using best practices from previous years.
  • Evaluates PCTs’ cultural learning and homestay integration in realistic situations as well as out-of-classroom homestay assignments.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • University degree required.
  • Language teaching or training experience.
  • Excellent language proficiency in both Romanian and Russian, and a good working knowledge of English.
  • General knowledge of Moldovan culture, communities, and professional norms is essential.
  • Flexibility while working within an intercultural environment and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Exposure to or experience with foreigners preferred.
