Moldova Media Information Integrity and Democracy (M-MIIND) Gender-Smart Hub Grants

Anticipated Implementation Period: January 2027 – November 2029

International Media Support (IMS) invites eligible information stakeholder Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to apply for Gender-Smart Hub Grants under the Moldovan Media Information Integrity and Democracy Programme (M-MIIND). It is anticipated that up to three organisations will be selected to work collaboratively with IMS to establish, deliver and govern the Hub, advance gender equality in and through the media, and develop practical resources and inclusive spaces for learning, collaboration and community engagement. Proposed interventions should strengthen gender-responsive media practices, increase access to practical tools and resources, build inclusive digital and physical spaces, and amplify the voices of women, girls, LGBTQIA+ people and other gender-marginalised groups.

All applications must be submitted by the application deadline. This is a competitive call, and applications submitted after the deadline will be rejected. Applications must be submitted by 23:59 CET (Central European Time), November 15, 2026.

The application must be submitted in English in the provided application form (available together with the call). Only one application per organisation can be submitted. Kindly see the selection criteria and scoring grid which the independent external selection committee will use for selection below in this call. Information related to the budget available is in the relevant section below.

Objective

The objective of the grant scheme is to establish a sustainable, locally owned Gender-Smart Hub that strengthens gender equality in and through the media. Selected subgrantees will co-create and develop the Hub in partnership with International Media Support (IMS), which will facilitate its establishment during the start-up phase. Subgrantees will work collaboratively to ensure coordination, complementarity and shared ownership, and will progressively assume responsibility for the Hub’s governance, delivery, promotion and longer-term sustainability.

This call will support initiatives that contribute to the Gender-Smarts Hub’s operation and ability to:

  • Advancing gender equality and challenging discriminatory norms and practices; Increasing access to tools and resources (digital and physical) to media and information stakeholder CSOs regarding gender-transformative content production;
  • Building inclusive spaces — digital and physical — for gender advocacy, education, and community relating to media;
  • Strengthening media-related gender-responsive policies, institutional practices, and community engagement;
  • Amplifying the voices of women, girls, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and other gender marginalised groups in and through the media.
  • Other activities advancing gender equality in and through the media.

Eligible Activity Types

  • Gender policy development, advocacy, and institutional reform support;
  • Public events: conferences, forums, workshops, and community dialogues on gender;
  • Creation of tools and resources for media to advance gender-sensitivity in content production;
  • Training and capacity-building programmes on gender for media;
  • Research and data collection to inform gender-responsive programming;
  • Coordination and networking among and of gender-focused organisations;
  • Development of a physical and/or virtual gender hub space.
  • Educational and training materials (curricula, toolkits, guides) for schools, universities, or civil society.

What Constitutes a Gender Hub?

A Gender Hub is a dedicated space — physical, digital, or both — that serves as a centre for strengthening gender equality in and through the media. Proposals should articulate how their activities contribute to building, sustaining, or expanding such a hub. It is an online/physical network connecting gender advocates with a particular focus on information stakeholder CSOs who strive to advance the same goal: gender equality in and through the media.
