Duties

Incumbent serves as the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) assistant (Mid-level) with responsibility for assisting the POSHO and/or senior level POSHO Assistant  in carrying out the day to day functions of the Office of Safety Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Office of Fire Protection (FIRE) programs at post as required by Department of State regulations; assures that all Government owned and leased property in country meet the necessary requirements Departmental requirements which may exist.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in the maintenance or construction field performing repair work as a maintenance supervisor or team lead or in the field of occupational safety as a safety inspector or quality control assurance inspector.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

1. A good understanding of local occupational safety and health regulations.
2. Knowledge of local construction policies and local labor laws.
3. In depth knowledge of occupational safety and health standards, safety regulations, industry best practices, methods of assessing safety hazards and controls.
4. Knowledge of investigative techniques for conducting investigations for all types of mishaps.

Education Requirements:

Minimum two years post-Secondary studies at the College/University level or a two-year Vocational training in facilities management, environmental safety, construction, engineering, or architecture.

LANGUAGE:  Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Romanian is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Russian is required.  (This may be tested.)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

1. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and database management, spreadsheets, etc.
2. Must possess good written and oral skills to conduct trainings and daily communication.
3. Basic mathematical skills to analyze safety related data is required
4. Must have type B local driver's license. Must have had driver’s license for a minimum of five years. Incumbent must demonstrate safe and competent driving skills. (This may be tested)
