About Changing the Way We Care

In Moldova, CRS is implementing Changing the Way We Care (CTWWC), a global initiative to promote safe, nurturing families for children from residential institutions and children at-risk of family separation.  This work involves coordination among a variety of government and non-government stakeholders at the national and raional levels to advance childcare reform and strengthen families.  CRS is also working to support the capacity strengthening and organizational development of Moldovan NGOs inclusive of training, on-the-job coaching, and accompaniment. Activities include reforming national systems of care for children and young people; supporting separated families with reunification and reintegration; developing alternative family and community-based care systems; closing harmful residential institutions; and calling for funders to divest from supporting institutions for children and young people and redirect their funding to alternatives that strengthen communities and keep families together.

Job Summary

The Communications Officer will work closely with CTWWC Communications Manager to create content and consistent messaging about childcare reform efforts in Moldova and to support awareness activities to address gaps in knowledge, attitudes, and practices around vulnerable/at-risk families and disability - including inclusive education.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

• Write, design and manage the production of creative and compelling communication material in Romanian language– stories, photos, video, fact sheets, brochures, etc. - for various local audiences, including local and national government representatives, civil society partners, media and others as needed.
• Use and tailor CTWWC messages tailored for each audience and identify and utilize effective distribution channels to disseminate communications materials to key audiences.
• Develop and maintain relationships with mass media and help identify opportunities to reach key audiences, and coach CTWWC staff in effective local media representation.
• Provide communications support for events, including signage, handouts, talking points, photos, and liaising with media.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related studies.
• Minimum two years of communication experience.
• Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees in a cooperative and friendly manner.
• Must possess ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully disseminating information to a variety of target audiences.
• Highly proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and desktop publishing skills is required.

Required Languages – Romanian and English.

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% within Moldova.
