Chemonics International is seeking a Mediacor Center Programs Director for the Moldova Future Technologies Activity
01. PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Moldova Future Technologies Activity (FTA) is implemented by U.S.-based company Chemonics International and is funded by USAID and the Government of Sweden. FTA continues USAID’s and Sweden’s legacy of sector competitiveness programming in Moldova, building on lessons learned and adaptions, relationships, and local partner trust achieved by previous programs over the past 15 years. Building on previous successes in facilitating the development of diverse local partners, FTA uses global market systems framework to continue to build capacity for sustainable, systemic progress while applying best practices to new partners and sectors. FTA co-creates systemic interventions with Moldovan partners to transform selected sectors by applying new technologies, promoting innovation, and integrating with global markets. FTA works in the following sectors: light manufacturing, information and communication technology (ICT), precision engineering, creative industries, and digital media.
02. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Launched in 2021 and housed at Moldova State University, the Mediacor Center for Digital Media Production is Moldova’s newest center of excellence and innovation. Mediacor will facilitate Moldova’s leadership in digital media production and post-production; kickstart the growth of digital media startups and entrepreneurs; foster the collaboration of IT, creative, and media actors for innovative projects; and attract international productions and platforms to seek out Moldova as a premier partner for digital media services.
The Mediacor Center Programs Director will be responsible for designing and overseeing programming of Mediacor jointly with the Moldova State University, COR Creative Industries Association, and the Ministry of Culture, with support from USAID, Sweden and US Embassy. The Director will lead support programs for companies, students and professionals in film, game development, media production and post-production, animation and digital media. With the Director’s programmatic oversight, Mediacor should improve the digital media infrastructure and ecosystem; expand skills development opportunities through new bachelor, masters and professional education programs; embrace new technologies to disrupt traditional media production (such as virtual production, animation, VFX); enable new media startups (vloggers, post-production studios, etc), and support high-quality media, film and createch content.
