Provides security for Embassy personnel and facilities by conducting access control and visitor screening duties as a member of a local guard program. Detects, deters, responds, and reports potential criminal and terrorists’ acts directed against U.S. Government personnel and facilities. Senior Local guards provide limited work guidance on access control and security equipment operations for up to 10 guards. The incumbent supervises day-to-day performance of his/her subordinates (3-4 guards), oversees guard operations in Compound Access Control (CACs), and performs static and roving security activities (access control, security screening, emergency response, etc.) to protect U.S. Government personnel (and visitors to U.S. Government facilities), facilities, assets, and information against harm, loss, and/or embarrassment. Operationally the incumbent reports to the Shift Supervisor. The incumbent is rated by the Shift Supervisor and reviewed by the ARSO.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of experience in the military or as a police officer, or security guard required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the emergency response procedures and notification process, familiarity with state-of-the-art security equipment and processes, awareness of cultural norms and customs required.

LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Romanian is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Russian is required. (This may be tested.)
