Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities):The British Embassy in Chisinau is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a regional Counter Disinformation Officer.
To work closely with the Counter Disinformation and Media Development (CDMD) Eastern Neighbourhood team, based at the British Embassy in Tbilisi, to best inform and contribute to the British Government’s fight against disinformation in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The CDMD Programme leads the UK's foreign policy approach to disinformation in the region. It is a £30m a year programme managed from London working across the Baltics, Central Europe and the Eastern Neighbourhood.
This is a new role at the forefront of the UK’s counter disinformation efforts. It will involve regular travel within Moldova and the region, and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. The main purposes of the job are: i) to report on the media environment and disinformation activity, through regular fieldwork and analysis; and ii) manage projects designed to push back against this threat.
This role is an integral part of the wider CDMD network, responsible for reporting to London and project delivery in the region, adding value to this process through in-depth expertise specific to this area of work. It requires regular reporting on disinformation in the region to help inform decision-making by senior officials based in London, as well as local efforts to progress our media development and wider counter disinformation work.
Some translation and interpreting will also make up part of the role.
